Charity Events at Mercy Mounthawk

The staff and students at Mercy Mounthawk have once more defied the doom and gloom of these recessionary times with three differing, but equally successfu fund raising initiatives.

The annual Christmas raffle, in support of local charities, has brought in 7158 euros. This money has been distributed to the organisations Kerry Hospice, Kerry Adolescent Counselling Services, ADAPT- Kerry Women's Refuge, the Rosemary Centre and SVP. Of course none of thisis possible without the good will of the local community, who once more rallied to our call - buying thousands of lines from our students, and the organisational abilities of Ms Mary Savage and Ms Mairead McAuliffe.

Our St Vincent de Paul non perishable food drive was also a huge success. A "Runners Day" in school, organised by the Student Council, brought in a mountain of items, which have been forwarded to SVP. Again a big thank you to Ms Linda Kane and Ms Mairead McAuliffe, to the parents and students for the support!

Finally, on Friday evening, the school gym rocked to the talents on display at the annual "M-idol" talent competition. Fourteen finalists performed for the sellout crowd of first, second and third year students. Great thanks to Ms Martha Brassil and her team for organising this fund raiser in aid of Gorta and SVP.
